Monday, March 12, 2012 is registration night for the 2012 ”Funstyle” Freestyle/Greco-Roman wrestling season. If you are unable to attend on March 12, 2012, please contact coach Cortez to make arrangements to get your wrestler registered. The 2012 Freestyle/Greco-Roman season will run from March 12, 2012 through mid to late June 2012. Practices will be every Monday and Thursday night from 6pm to 7:30pm. Competitions will be as follows: Friday night - Greco-Roman and Saturdays – Freestyle. Click here for times, dates, and locations of the events. Please be advised that NO wrestler will be able to participate in practices or tournaments until the registration form, payment, and a copy of your wrestlers USA card has been received and turned into coach Cortez. To purchase and obtain a copy of your wrestlers USA Wrestling card, please go to: www.usawmembership.com. Cost for the card is $40. You can download a copy of the registration form here or you can obtain a copy at any of the practices.
Practice gear is as follows: wrestling shoes, t-shirt and shorts with no pockets, zippers or buttons, and head gear.
Please remember, NO street shoes are allowed in the wrestling room. this applies to everyone, wrestlers, parents, and siblings.
Competition gear is as follows: wrestling shoes, head gear, and wrestling singlet. Your wrestler will be required to have a RED singlet and a BLUE singlet or a REVERSIBLE singlet that has red on one side and blue on the other side in order to compete in tournaments/competitions.
Chaparral has customized head gear ($30.00 ea.) and a singlet set, one (1) red and one (1) blue singlet ($60.00/set) available for purchase. If you are interested in purchasing singlets, or head gear, please see coach Cortez.
Wrestlers please be sure to sign in at every practice. A sign-in sheet will be on a clipboard at the entrance of the wrestling room.
This season, as with every freestyle season is sure to be an exciting and memorable experience for all wrestlers as we all come together, high school and youth to perform as a team. How cool is that!

Coach Rod Padilla – Current Head Coach at Chaparral High School as well as the youth wrestling program, USA Wrestling Bronze Card Certified. Rod has 30 years of coaching experience.
Coach Jason Julian - Current Assistant Wrestling Coach of Chaparral High School as well as Coach and Vice President of the youth wrestling program, USA Wrestling Bronze Card Certified, Colorado Wrestling Hall of Fame Youth Coach of the Year in 2010. Jason has 14 years of coaching experience at the youth and high school level.
Coach Paul Trygstad - Current Youth Wrestling Assistant Coach, USA Wrestling Bronze Card Certified, 15 years of experience coaching at the youth level. Paul is very active in the sport of wrestling, involved with USA Wrestling as the “kids” director.
Coach Rudy Cortez – Current Youth Wrestling Coach, President of the youth wrestling program as well as Vice President of the Western Suburban Wrestling League. USA Wrestling Bronze Card Certified. Rudy has 6 years of coaching experience at the youth level.
